What can you do during your stay at Camping de la Mer?

Recharge your batteries in the fresh air and take time to enjoy the seaside with your family: get ready to discover the surrounding area. Just a stone’s throw from the seaside resort of Le Touquet and a few kilometres from the Baie de Somme, famous for its seal colonies, our campsite is the perfect base from which to discover the treasures of the Opal Coast!

Welcome to Stella-Plage: The discreet pearl of the Côte d'Opale!

Welcome to a place where nature combines fine sand, wild dunes and sea air to create a 100% relaxing cocktail (without the parasol, but almost). And it’s all just a short walk from the campsite! Less crowded but just as pleasant as its famous neighbour Le Touquet, Stella Plage is the ideal place to recharge your batteries by the sea and enjoy the fresh air, with the added bonus of the surrounding calm and nature (and without having to search for your beach towel among all the others…). For thrill-seekers, there are plenty of water sports and outdoor activities on offer, including sand yachting, surfing, kayaking and even excursions into the open sea to admire seals resting in the bays, for an unusual touch to your holiday! Other outdoor activities include mini-golf, a playground and free-access sports pitches to keep the whole family busy. For our travellers who just want to enjoy the UV rays (with sun cream, of course), choose your spot and sit on the beach for a sunbathing session! Feeling hungry? Then it’s time to fill up on welsh, mussels and chips or a sweet waffle… It’s up to you to choose from the many local specialities!

Head for the famous seaside resorts of the Côte d'Opale: Boulogne-sur-Mer and Wimereux

To continue your escapade on the Channel coast, consider stopping off to visit the resorts of Boulogne-sur-Mer and Wimereux, well-known as much for their charm and art de vivre as their gastronomy! Boulogne isn’t just about fresh fish and gulls, it’s also a town of art and history. Surrounded by medieval ramparts in the old town, take a trip back in time. You’ll discover the sumptuous Notre-Dame Basilica, which hides a remarkable crypt beneath its immense dome (the largest in France, no less). Along its cobbled streets, you’ll spot the old Château-Musée and a few good places to sample local specialities. If you have time, stop off at the Nausicaá Aquarium to admire the many species of fish up close! In Wimereux, you can’t help but admire the superb seafront with its Belle Epoque atmosphere, where the colourful facades of the buildings invite you to take a stroll full of charm. The promenade is perfect for a stroll in the fresh air, whether on foot or by bike. Whether you’re a keen sportsman or a renowned fisherman, you’ll be spoilt for choice! From thrilling water sports to kite flying, Wimereux is the ideal base for discovering some of the best spots in the area, including Pointe aux Oies and the two Capes.

Le Touquet: seaside elegance and a sportsman's paradise

For holidaymakers who like to think big, head to the seaside resort of Le Touquet! Situated 3 hours from Paris, this huge seaside resort is designed to leave no room for boredom and to give you the ultimate in excitement. With its vast golden sandy beach, miles of cycle paths and chic town centre, a day out won’t be too much. Just 15 minutes from the campsite (about 30 by bike), get your towels ready and enjoy a sunny day on the beach. Families will love the children’s clubs and the many activities on offer during the summer, while thrill-seekers can try their hand at kite-surfing or pilot a sand yacht. Back on dry land, take a stroll down rue Saint-Jean, discover the gourmet markets, chic boutiques and stop to admire its Belle Époque villas worthy of a film set. For a sweet break, because the sea digs in: a small homemade ice cream will delight the troops, followed by a little digestive stroll along the Bay of Canche to enjoy the pretty views.

Excursion to the Baie de Somme: a remarkable natural jewel

Get ready for a day in the heart of nature! A little further south on the Côte d’Opale: discover the Baie de Somme. A true paradise for lovers of wide open spaces. Listed as one of the most beautiful bays in the world, it is home to a colony of grey seals and sea calves that can be observed at low tide (with binoculars, but don’t get too close). An unusual adventure that will delight young and old alike!

Whether by kayak, on foot or by bike, the bay offers breathtaking scenery and absolute tranquillity. It’s a real breath of fresh air, with the added bonus of friendly little gourmet spots where you can enjoy a plate of seafood overlooking the sea. Rather nice, don’t you think?

Montreuil-sur-Mer: a step back in time...

Let’s leave the seaside behind and get ready to immerse ourselves in history! Head for the town of Montreuil-sur-Mer, a charming 13th-century fortified town perched on a hill. With its ramparts, cobbled streets and old-fashioned atmosphere, it was the inspiration for Victor Hugo’s ‘Les Misérables’! Treat yourself to a relaxing stroll along the ramparts at sunset, with a breathtaking view over the surrounding countryside.

Walking and cycling tours

If you’re a keen walker, cyclist or nature lover, you’re in for a treat! The Côte d’Opale and its surrounding area is criss-crossed by numerous hiking and cycling trails. Among them: the national forest of Le Touquet, the marshes of Camiers, the dunes of Merlimont… Each path offers superb panoramas to admire at your own pace! Whether you’re a beginner or a veteran walker, there’s something for everyone.

Valloires Abbey and Gardens: a haven of peace combining history and nature

Nestling in the heart of the Authie valley, Valloires Abbey is a treasure trove of history and serenity (35 min drive). With its majestic architecture and enchanting gardens, this place is a real bubble out of time, where people come to learn as well as to stroll. Built in the 18th century in the Baroque style, with its harmonious facades and refined interior, you can’t help but admire what’s on offer. I promise, there’s no need to wear clothes to match the paintings. As for the gardens, no less than 8 hectares of greenery await you, with some 5,000 species of plants, divided between several themed gardens designed by landscape architect Gilles Clément. A must-see in the region, even more so for rose fans!

Parc du Marquenterre: a wild immersion in the heart of nature

Make way for your adventurous soul! Put on your binoculars and your boots: the Parc du Marquenterre is made for you! Situated in the heart of the Baie de Somme Nature Reserve (forty minutes from the campsite), this haven of peace is a real paradise for lovers of flora and fauna. Between dunes, marshes and forests spread over 200 hectares, follow the signposted paths and let yourself be guided to observe the many species of birds offering you the most beautiful aerial ballets! A relaxing experience to share with the whole family (don’t forget your camera!).

Were are we
heading to next?

Still in love with the sea and wide-open spaces of sand, but still hesitating about where to head next? No problem! We’ll take you just a few kilometres from the campsite, in the direction of the Baie de Somme, because we’re sure you haven’t seen all the seal colonies there yet… Camping d’Onival (about 1 hour’s drive) offers large, comfortable, sunny pitches with direct access to the sea. The ideal spot to continue your seaside holiday and enjoy the views of the impressive cliffs along the coast, not forgetting to recharge your batteries before hitting the road again!
